Compassionate Dentist in Fort Worth
Get to Know Dr. Karen Selman

Dr. Selman knew she wanted to become a dentist when her sister introduced her to the field during her freshman year of college. She instantly loved that dentistry combines art and science and gives her the opportunity to work with her hands. She strives to help her patients feel genuinely cared for, especially those who come in anxious or discouraged. Being able to ease their fears, relieve pain, and help them smile with confidence again is incredibly fulfilling.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?

Dr. Selman earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Texas A&M School of Dentistry following her bachelor’s in biology with a minor in chemistry and a post-baccalaureate Biomedical Science Certificate. Since graduating, she has been practicing as a general dentist, gaining real-world experience in restorative dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, pediatric care, and comprehensive treatment planning for patients of all ages.
Her continuing education (CE) includes Root Camp E-Track Level I (24 hours of lecture and hands-on endodontic training), a 6-hour course in sutures and flap design, an 8-hour hands-on Surgical Extraction Techniques course, and a 2-hour lecture on modern atraumatic and surgical extraction principles. She has also completed Diode Laser Training covering clinical applications across multiple wavelengths.
In addition, Dr. Selman holds a Nitrous Oxide Monitoring and Administration Certification and has completed CE in practice protection and risk management. These courses have strengthened her skills in endodontics, surgical procedures, laser-assisted dentistry, and overall patient comfort and care. On top of this, she is a member of the American Dental Association and Texas Dental Association.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?

Dr. Selman comes from a big family of all girls (6 in total), and now, she and her husband are raising their own little girl! Sisterhood and motherhood are a huge part of who she is. She spends a lot of free time with her daughter, taking her to the park, the library, or on little nature walks. They enjoy doing arts and crafts together and finding simple, meaningful activities that spark her curiosity. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Selman is really passionate about learning and creativity. She loves reading, especially theology, and in another life, would probably have minored in it.
