Where Did You Study Dentistry?

Dr. Lopez has a remarkable public health background. In 1996, he was commissioned in the US Navy as a Preventive Medicine Officer. CAPT Lopez’s first assignment was with Naval Hospital Pensacola, FL, as Director of the US Navy Public Health Department, managing all Public Health Programs for nine clinics in five states.

Dr. Lopez graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in 2005, then enrolled in a General Practice Residency at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. During his residency, he was primarily assigned to attend and triage all Medical Evacuations coming from the frontlines for further evaluation and treatment by the oral surgery department. He then transferred in 2006 to Bahrain as Acting Dental Clinic Department Head, where he provided direct routine and emergency care to deployed US Naval personnel.

After his operational tour, Dr. Lopez returned to Jacksonville, FL, as a staff dentist. In 2010, he accepted a position with the US Public Health Service, eventually completing his Dental Public Health Residency at UT Health Science Center-San Antonio. He participates in advanced training courses every year through organizations like Spear Education.
